main dance division

The main dance division is designed for students looking for a recreational dance program. Enhanced concentration, coordination, and discipline are just a few of the skills learned at The Dream Center that will help foster a healthy mind and body. Throughout all levels of instruction, we employ Ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical/contemporary (4th grade+) and Acrobatics.  Advancement depends on age and student progression.  The Dream Center wants to make sure every student enjoys dancing; while at the same time receives a high level of training. All students enrolled in the Main Dance Division have the opportunity to perform in our end of the year recital.

Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo (2nd-7th grade)

A great class for dancers wishing study multiple genres of dance - all within 1 hour! For 2nd-3rd graders we offer a Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo, for dancers 4th-7th grade we offer Jazz/Tap Combo. Dancers will further their ballet education, studying the correct body positions, alignment, center and across the floor work. Style and precision are masterfully integrated into the jazz portion, while musicality and sound quality are emphasized in the tap portion.

Ballet (4th grade and up)

Ballet is considered the foundation of artistic dance.  Its meticulous attention to technical detail makes it invaluable for any serious dancer.  Combining proper alignment and body placement, seamless transitions through standard arm, leg and feet positions and astute sense of timing, it trains dancers to be clean, versatile performers.

Tap (4th grade and up)

Musicality, sound quality, correct body placement, and terminology are emphasized in our Tap program. Creative avenues are explored with our younger students to develop ear training and basic rhythms. At the advanced level, students are taught the integration of tap dance and music as it relates to improvisation and choreography.

Jazz (4th grade and up)

Style and precision are masterfully integrated into the Jazz program. Warm-up exercises are designed specifically to increase flexibility and strength. The primary focus of all center floor combinations is total body control. Across the floor combinations focus on dynamics and fluidity. An upbeat class that’s not to be missed!

Lyrical/Contemporary (4th grade and up)

Lyrical is a type of dance that is "an interpretation of words through music.” It is best categorized as a combination of ballet, jazz, and modern.  Lyrical is a great form of creative expression.  When you see a lyrical dance, you are watching a story that is set to music and motion. Lyrical is a great way for dancers to express their inner emotions.

Hip Hop (Kindergarten and up)

Hip Hop is a blend of today's high-energy "street style" movement.  Typically performed to popular music, this style of dance has been very sought after by teens, preteens and the "young at heart."  The style boasts that everyone is capable of taking part and having fun!

Acrobatics – (Kindergarten and up)

Acrobatic movements are combined with dance steps as students learn the fundamentals of movement and timing with tumbling.  Dancers will work on overall control, flexibility and strength building exercises.  Dancers will work on basic floor tumbling skills, handstands, cartwheels, forward and backward rolls, bridges, backbends, etc. More advanced students will have the opportunity to work on kick-overs, walk-overs, and running passes.
